2006 Small Biz Games - $10,000 in Prizes

The Games are coming! Well … The 2006 Small Biz Games at least.
The $10,000 Fast Start Small Business Challenge will have 15 micro small business and home based business owners competing in this unique live event at the 2006 Small Biz Games Micro Small Business/Home Based Business Expo and Awards Banquet, May 21 – 23 at the Riviera Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The selected business contestants will be divided into three teams of five and given a $500 credit to purchase products from Overstock.com’s Bulk Buys & Business Supplies.
The teams will have an opportunity to select products they believe will sell the best to attendees at the 2006 Small Biz Games Micro Small Business/Home Based Business Expo.
The three teams will have 48 hours to market and sell their products.
The team with the most sales at the end of the event will be declared the winner and receive a $10,000 cash prize, $2000 for each first place team member.
To have a chance of getting to the “games”, entrants must submit an essay between 1000 and 1500 words on “Why I Love Being an Entrepreneur.”

Editors Note: Obviously this is a local event (as you have to get to Las Vegas if you are selected) - but the idea is intriguing (very “The Apprentice”-like) - hopefully something like this can be made into a virtual event and all small businesses throughout the world can enter.
